This revision responds to the request for a more recognisable Wainui personality and functional parity with the current clinic website.
A visual direction with local character
- The real Wainui wordmark and blue palette remain. Warmer white, restrained cyan accents and locally hosted Manrope headings give the layout a more considered rhythm.
- The homepage hero pairs the familiar patient photograph with the actual Wainui waiting room in the background. A pale-blue-to-white gradient, dark text and a blue booking button make the hero lighter and more inviting. Both original images keep their full frames. The headline remains “Your dentist on The Strand.”; clinic, team and facade photographs elsewhere remain unchanged.
- Visit paths use readable rows; featured care uses larger photographs; clinic/team content, first-visit guidance, patient feedback and articles each have an appropriate layout rather than repeating the same card pattern.
- Body and FAQ-answer text remain 18px. Visible focus, large controls, written phone numbers and complete photo framing support people of different ages.
Functionality reviewed
| Treatment and article FAQs | 223 native accordions: 109 original panels, 110 article questions and four visit FAQs. Click, keyboard and Show all/Close all supported. |
|---|---|
| Original accordion links | Original panel IDs retained. Opening a direct question URL expands the relevant answer. |
| Long-page navigation | Desktop section navigation includes costs and FAQs. A compact phone disclosure provides the same section links near the start of the content. |
| Photographs | Team, treatment, article and arrival photographs can be enlarged in a keyboard-accessible dialog. Escape closes it and returns focus. |
| Patient feedback | A manually controlled three-slide component uses exact, service-focused excerpts from existing testimonial URLs. Each excerpt links to its full source. No invented star ratings or automatic rotation. |
| Google profile and directions | The existing Google directions destination remains. A live third-party review/map embed is not loaded in this demonstration. |
| Booking | The verified Wainui booking destination remains consistent across header/footer/CTAs. All booking buttons now open the verified external Wainui booking service directly in a new tab. The provider was checked again on 2 November 2026 and identifies Wainui Dental Clinic, 04 564 1670 and 10B The Strand. No appointment was submitted. |
| First visit and contact | Registration remains distinct from booking. Enquiry/enrolment fields remain disabled in line with the agreed prototype scope. |
| Payment provider links | Six original provider-information destinations were restored and returned HTTP 200, including their existing redirects. Provider terms and clinic eligibility remain subject to confirmation. |
| Payment-link discrepancy | The original SuperGold logo points to Afterpay. This unrelated destination was not restored; the preview directs that enquiry to reception. |
| Blog, archives and services | All existing local routes, 39 articles, category/author/testimonial archives, navigation links and the article search remain available. |
| Back to top | A small labelled control returns to the page header on long pages. |
| Original slider | The decorative homepage slider was replaced by a fixed editorial composition. Its useful treatment and contact destinations remain accessible; there is no automatic motion. |
Telephone, images and urgent care update
- Clinic telephone links use tel:+6445641670 and the visible number 04 564 1670, highlighted in the header, hero, footer and phone action bar.
- 150 image placements now use larger or uncropped originals from the clinic media collection. Fourteen original files were retrieved. No faces were generated or retouched. Low-resolution source detail cannot be reconstructed reliably.
- Images use complete framing and contain fitting, with enlargement available. The decorative WAINUI 5014 stamp has been removed; the address retains its real postcode.
- Official Tabler outline SVG icons support telephone and navigation. The current hero uses only small functional arrows. The licence is included.
- The emergency callout uses a deep-blue background, amber button and prominent written telephone number.
Latest browser checks covered desktop, 320px and 390px layouts, mobile menu Enter/Escape and 200% reflow simulation. Native 200% browser zoom and physical touchscreen testing remain unverified.
Previous homepage hero revision
2 November 2026: the hero uses an existing, unaltered photograph of the clinic interior, including its yellow seating, artwork and window branding. The image is not repeated elsewhere on the homepage. Book online, the written telephone number and the team link remain available. The emergency band and all other homepage sections are unchanged. Desktop, 320px and 390px visual checks passed; native 200% browser zoom remains unverified.
Previous layered hero
The patient photograph has returned to the foreground. The clinic interior sits behind the content, with a navy gradient overlay for readable text. The booking button uses a light surface with dark text; the written clinic number remains prominent. Neither source photograph was retouched or cropped. All changes are scoped to the homepage hero.
Current light hero
The hero now uses light Wainui blue fading to white, with navy headings and a blue booking button. Desktop vertical padding increased to 96px above and 104px below the content; the column gap increased to 96px. Text, actions, welcome note and image caption have more space between them. Phone layouts retain comfortable spacing and complete image framing. The patient photograph and subdued clinic background remain. All other homepage sections, pages and contact destinations are unchanged.
Verification
All original accordion IDs were checked against the captured source. The static review found no broken local links or fragments, duplicate IDs, invalid accordion structures or missing existing article/body paragraphs. The nine core pages were exercised in 27 phone/enlarged layout cases, with no horizontal overflow or failed loaded photographs observed.
Representative FAQ controls passed Enter/Space, Show all/Close all and direct-link tests. Photograph enlargement passed Escape and focus-return checks. Native 200% browser zoom, physical touch hardware and complete screen-reader testing remain outside the available verification environment.
